|"Summer" 16x20 oil on linen panel|
"Summer", the painting, is now complete. I thought it was finished a couple of weeks ago but I never posted it here because something was bothering me about it. I stuck it in the closet with the idea of viewing it with fresh eyes after letting sit for awhile. That is what I did this afternoon and was able to see what was needed. I added more yellow, purple and blue to the lawn area, which you can't compare to the original photo posted because those areas had not yet been painted. However, if you want to take the time to compare the posts you will see a change to the clouds on the right. After I took this photo I noticed a brushstroke on the lower left that I didn't like and corrected it. Now I am quite pleased with the painting. I think I will order a frame and find a show to enter it in.
I suppose it doesn't really matter but in my last post about painting "Different Paths" I mentioned starting it at 5:00 AM in Inauguration Day. I misspoke, it was the day after the presidential election and I was up early to hear the result. Since this is my journal I figure I should keep my information straight!
The new gallery at the Salmagundi Club looks WONDERFUL! I wish I had photos to post here. Friends on Facebook have been posting them and I can tell you it has been worth the wait! I will be so happy to have paintings hung on those walls!
